How You Can Help

We appreciate your interest in volunteering at Hope For Hunger Food Bank. We are always looking for volunteers with integrity, kindness and a strong commitment to serve others. Your time and talent are a critical part of our success. Your decision to volunteer will touch people's lives. 

Who May Volunteer 

  • Adults (ages 18 and older) 
  • Teens (14 years to 17 years). Volunteers 14 and 15 years old are required to have a Parent or Guardian over the age of 18 with them. Volunteers between 16 and 17 do not need a guardian present. A signed Parent/Guardian Permission Slip is required for all volunteers ages 14 – 17.
  • Corporate Teams and Groups. If your team is larger than 12, please email martha@hopeforhungerfb.org.
  • Students in need of Community Service Hours
  • For Court Mandated Hours, contact martha@hopeforhungerfb.org to verify acceptance 
  • If you need staff to sign off on paperwork, a two day notice is required

Volunteer Hours

  • Monday through Thursday
  •  6 hour shifts from 7AM to 1PM
  • Volunteers are to arrive 30 minutes prior to start time
  • Closed on Fridays and Holidays
  • Occasionally, the food bank may close early if there is a shortage of volunteers or food

Volunteer Activities Available 

  • Front Lobby Check In of Clients
  • Computers, Data Entry and Validation of Client Eligibility
  • Running Carts with Food to Client Vehicles
  • Sorting, Boxing and Bagging of Food
  • Food Bank Clean Up (Inside)
  • Grounds Clean Up (Outside)
  • Traffic Control 

What You Need to Know Before Volunteering

  • Dress comfortable
  • MUST have closed toe shoes
  • No sleeveless shirts, tanks, or halter tops
  • A kitchenette is available for your use
  • Beverages are provided
  • Lockers are available to store personal belongings, You must supply the lock and key
  • Cell phones can be kept with volunteer as long as not abused
  • Foul language will not be tolerated 

Upon first day of volunteer service, you will meet with the Operations Manager
 to arrange future volunteer hours.
